Born from a lifelong love of Indian textiles, curated for those who cherish them
Niranjana Threads started between two friends with a long-shared appreciation for Indian craft, the kind that goes beyond occasion wear and trend cycles. People in our lives had noticed our taste for years. We started with Banarasi weaves because that’s where our story started. Everything since has been an expansion of that first instinct.
Niranjana is one of the many names for the Ganga, meaning that which is pure, spotless, unblemished. We chose it because it reflects something we want to hold ourselves to; the clarity about what we carry and the honesty about where we are as a brand.
Today, our range includes both handloom and powerloom pieces. We say that openly because we think you deserve to know. We are building steadily towards a fully handloom-based catalogue because it’s the direction our appreciation for craft naturally takes us. We’ll always tell you what you’re buying and where it comes from.
Every brand has a starting point. Ours was Banaras, a city that has been weaving for centuries, where the craft isn’t a revival or a trend but simply a way of life that has never stopped. It felt like the right place to begin learning what it means to source with intention.
From there, our curiosity took over. Bhujodi weaves from the craft clusters of Kutch. Block prints from Jaipur. Each tradition we’ve encountered has deepened our understanding of what Indian craft really holds. We are still discovering, and we expect we always will be. The craft world is vast, and we are genuinely early in our journey through it.
This is a brand we are building slowly and with intention. We’re adding crafts as we discover them, deepening our understanding as we go. If you’d like to see the collection in person, we welcome studio visits by appointment in Delhi.
